Dovie, a disabled man with nemaline myopathy, passionately opposed New York's new assisted suicide bill and shared his experience of nearly dying when his ventilator hose became disconnected. On May 18, 2025, after a similar incident where help was delayed, Dovie fell into a coma and died 16 months later at the age of 35.
